摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a compound oxide, enabling efficient production of a compound oxide which gives sufficiently high catalytic activity when a catalyst seed such as a noble metal is supported. <P>SOLUTION: The method of producing the compound oxide includes a process of obtaining an aggregate consisting of the first particle covering the second particle as a core, in which the first particle, containing one selected from a matrix metal oxide particle composed of the oxide of the first metal and its precursor and having an average particle diameter in the range of 5-50 nm, and the second particle, containing at least one selected from a metal oxide particle composed of the oxide of the second metal having a function of oxygen absorbing and releasing ability excluding the first metal, and its precursor, and having the average particle diameter of 1/5-1 times the average particle diameter of the first particle, are mixed in the presence of a solvent while maintaining the pH condition satisfying the following conditions (A) and (B): (A) zeta potentials of both the first particle and the second particle have the same polarity; and (B) the absolute value of at least one of the zeta potentials of the first particle and the second particle is 30 mV or more. The method also includes a process of obtaining the compound oxide composed of a core metal oxide particle having oxygen absorbing and releasing ability and the matrix metal oxide particle covering the surrounding of the core particle by drying and then burning the aggregate. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
