PURPOSE: A resin composition for optical film is provided to include ladder type silsesquioxane polymer having high compatibility with cellulose resin, thereby rendering high heat resistance, ultraviolet blocking effect, water resistance, and plasticizing effect. CONSTITUTION: A resin composition for optical films includes a ladder type silsesquioxane polymer of weight average molecular weight of 1,000 to 1,000,000, and a cellulose-based resin. Less than 0.1 to 20 parts by weight of the ladder type silsesquioxane polymer is included to 1 part by weight of cellulose resin. An optical film is produced by coating a substrate with the resin composition for optical films, and drying the coating material. The transmittance of the optical film is at least 80%.
