PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data processing device and program capable of decreasing processing load and receiving a necessary electronic mail securely to timely process an external control instruction.SOLUTION: In a sales data processing device 10, a communication part 14 inquires an electronic mail addressed to a self-device normally at five-minute interval, and receives the electronic mail addressed to the self-device if the electronic mail addressed to the self-device exists. If the electronic mail received by the communication part 14 includes a command, a processing according to the command is performed and a receipt time of the electronic mail is stored in a storage part 19. The time interval to inquire the electronic mail by the communication part 14 is set to one minute, which is shorter than that in normal operation, within ten minutes before and after a time corresponding to the receipt time on the previous day stored in the storage part 19. |
