<p>A method is provided for controlling a motor grader (10) having a blade (30), a blade shift actuator (40), a sensor (118) to detect a distance to a curb, one or more steerable wheels (58, 60), a steering actuator (88), an articulated frame (12, 14), and an articulation actuator (64, 66). In one aspect, an object sensor (118) is located and configured to determine a gap between the blade (30) and the curb, and to maintain the gap at a predetermined value in the absence of user intervention by automatically manipulating one or more of the blade shift actuator (40), steering actuator (88), and articulation actuator (64, 66). The determination as to which one or more of the actuators to use in maintaining the blade (30) gap may be made based on a mode selection by an operator of the motor grader (10).</p> |
