PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a code pattern superposed image generation device whose reading performance of information from a code pattern image is improved compared to a conventional case, and to provide a code pattern superposed image generating method, an information reader, an information reading method and a printed matter.SOLUTION: A code pattern superposed image generation device 100 includes: an image input section 111; a code pattern image generation section 112; an image superposition section 115; and an image output section 116. The code pattern image generation section 112 includes: a position depending pattern generation section 113 for generating a position depending pattern which is statistically redundant from position depending information and redundant data to the position depending information; and a synchronous pattern superposition section 114 for superposing a synchronous pattern which defines a range of a cell on the position depending pattern and generates a code pattern image. The synchronous patterns 141 are equal in entire cells.
