PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell that reduces electrical resistance, maintains gas diffusion spaces, and thus has favorable gas diffusion properties.SOLUTION: A fuel cell 10 includes: a polymer electrolyte membrane 11; a cathode catalyst layer 13 that is arranged on one side of the polymer electrolyte membrane 11; and an anode catalyst layer 12 that is arranged on the other side of the polymer electrolyte membrane 11. The fuel cell 10 also has a cathode separator 16 and an anode separator 15 that have conductivity and shut off gas. Electrode members 17 and 18 are made of a conductive porous base material, and are arranged either between the cathode catalyst layer 13 and the cathode separator 16 or between the anode catalyst layer 12 and the anode separator 15. The electrode members 17 and 18 have: flat portions 170 and 180 that have surface contact with the respective catalyst layers 12 and 13; and a plurality of supports 171 and 181 that are provided on the respective flat portions 170 and 180, support the respective separators 15 and 16 so as to form gas diffusion spaces, and are shaped into a pattern of scattered dots. |
