PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide secondary particles in which primary particles will not be dissociated easily even if high power charge/discharge is applied.SOLUTION: A cathode material for a nonaqueous electrolyte lithium ion battery is composed of secondary particles having a lithium compound and a lithium-transition metal oxide particle, and the lithium compound does not contain transition metal and the number of moles of lithium in the secondary particles are more than the number of moles of the transition metal.
