PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rare earth permanent magnet capable of preventing formation of Nd carbide in a magnet after sintering, accordingly capable of preventing deterioration in magentas characteristics, and a method for producing a rare earth permanent magnet.SOLUTION: A compound 12 is formed by: producing an alloy ingot obtained by adding metal to Nd, Fe and B, the metal having a lower free energy of formation in forming carbide than Nd; preparing magnet powder by pulverizing the alloy ingot; and mixing the prepared magnet powder and a binder. Then, a green sheet 14 is prepared by molding the formed compound 12 in a sheet form. The formed green sheet 14 is thereafter subjected to magnetic field orientation, and further, the green sheet 14 is subjected to calcination by being kept at 200-900°C for several hours in a non-oxidation atmosphere. The green sheet 14 is subsequently sintered at a sintering temperature to produce a permanent magnet 1. |
