PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter for preventing granular carbon from being scattered by going into pieces, and to provide a smoking article.SOLUTION: A filter 1 comprises first and second sections. The first section is at the mouth end of the filter 1 and comprises a cylindrical element 6 circumscribed by a wrapper and having a hollow portion, and the second section is longitudinally aligned with and adjacent to the first section and comprises a filtration material 3. The second section comprises a particulate material 10 in a circumferential region and the particulate material 10 extends to the end of the second section immediately adjacent the first section. Also there is provided a smoking article incorporating the filter. |
