PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter holding device for air conditioners that can replace a filter by preventing the flow of air not passing a filter into the filter downstream side while continuing to introduce air into an air cleaning chamber by a fan, and to provide a method of replacing the filter.SOLUTION: In a filter holding device for air conditioners, a first filter rail 4 and a second filter rail 5 holding an edge of a filter 3 are disposed adjacent to upstream and downstream positions in an air flowing direction within a filter unit 2 that introduces air into an air cleaning chamber by the action of a fan 1; operation is carried out by allowing the edge of the filter 3 to be held by either the first filter rail 4 or the second filter rail 5; a filter replacement door 6 mounted to the filter unit 2 is opened if the filter 3 is clogged; the clogged filter 3 is removed to carry out the replacement thereof in a condition in which a new fillter 3 is inserted into the other of the first filter rail 4 and the second filter rail 5; and the filter replacement door 6 is closed. |
