PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a region required for printing a test pattern and to detect with high accuracy an ejection port with the occurrence of ejection abnormality. SOLUTION: In the test pattern 8 printed by an ink-jet printer, a plurality of linear pattern elements 811a-811d in respective unit test patterns 81a-81d are arranged along the arranged direction of ejection ports to reduce the region required for printing the test pattern 8 on a printing medium 9. Further, the scanning direction length of each of the plurality of pattern elements 811a-811d is made different from that of the adjacent pattern element. Consequently, even if the order of arrangement in the arranged direction of the pattern elements is replaced and one pattern element is drawn in a position where the other pattern element is to be drawn, the pattern element with the occurrence of position abnormality can be specified with high accuracy.
