<p>There is disclosed a wellbore-lining tubing running and severing tool, and a method of running a wellbore-lining tubing and of selectively severing the tubing. In particular, there is disclosed a wellbore-lining tubing running and severing tool which has a use in a riserless wellbore drilling and completion procedure. An exemplary wellbore-lining tubing running and severing tool (34) comprises: a housing (36) defining a bore (38) which can receive a wellbore-lining tubing (18); a connecting component (40) provided on the housing, and which can male with a connecting component (42) on a subsea installation (20) associated with a subsea weilbore (10), for releasably mounting the tool to the subsea installation; a coupling arrangement (44) for releasably coupling the housing to the wellbore-lining tubing, to restrict translation of the tubing relative to the housing: and a tubing severing assembly (46), which can be operated to sever the wellbore-lining tubing located within the bore of the housing, The coupling arrangement can be operated: a) to grip the wellbore-lining tubing to facilitate deployment of the tubing together with the tool and coupling of the tool to the subsea installation; b) to subsequently release the tubing so that the tubing can be translated relative to the housing for deployment through the subsea installation and into the wellbore; and c) to re-grip the tubing prior to severing of the tubing using the tubing severing assembly, to thereby support the severed portion of tubing extending from the housing and into the wellbore.</p> |
