Disclosed are a method and apparatus for assessing the structural health of a system under test (2), such as an aircraft. The method comprises providing, in a database (16), a plurality of different functions, and adding, deleting or modifying a stored function. A processor(s) receives one or more signals, each signal being a measurement over time of a respective parameter of the system under test (2). The processor(s) acquires from the database (16), one or more of the functions currently stored by the database (16) and calculates using the one or more signals, values for the one or more acquired functions, thereby providing an assessment of the structural health of the system (2). In the present method, existing parameters may be modified, thereby changing the algorithms and the coefficients used in the algorithms, implemented in the structural health management process. Thus it may be possible to modify algorithms without re-qualifying or re-compiling the software that specifies those algorithms. |
