The invention relates to a laser device for generating an optical projection signal on a reference surface, especially for levelling and/or marking, preferably in the form of a linear laser, said device comprising a housing (1) provided with a base surface (6) and at least one outer surface. According to the invention, the base surface (6) is designed to support the housing (1) against an object, in such a way that it is fixed not only at certain points, and the base surface (6) is oriented in relation to the optical projection signal in a defined manner.
