PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a walking assisting system that can assist a walking action without preventing an action of a user and to provide a method for controlling the same.SOLUTION: A walking assisting system includes: a belt support member 21; a weight bearing belt 22; a waist height calculation part 14; and a belt control part 23. The weight bearing belt 22 hangs down from the belt support member 21 and lifts and supports a trainee 9 when the trainee 9 loses the balance of a posture. The waist height calculation part 14 calculates the height of a waist part of the trainee 9 with respect to the ground. The belt control part 23 calculates a target value of the hanging length of the weight bearing belt 22 from the belt support member 21 based on the height of the waist part of the trainee 9 and adjusts the hanging length of the weight bearing belt 22. |
