PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique to enable the achievement of high sensitometric characteristics even when film thickness distribution exists in a reception film in acoustic signal detection.SOLUTION: This acoustic signal reception apparatus includes an acoustic wave receiving layer which is sandwiched between a first mirror and a second mirror and in which refractive index can be modulated. The acoustic signal reception apparatus is composed so that the variability in optical path length due to the film thickness distribution of the acoustic wave receiving layer is compensated by the refractive-index distribution of the acoustic wave receiving layer.
