PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily change the position and size of an X-ray focal point into the desired ones in an X-ray generator for allowing electron beams from a cathode to linearly collide with an anode without changing an orbit. SOLUTION: The X-ray generator comprises: an X-ray tube having the anode, including an electron collision surface generating the X-rays by the collision with the electron beams, and the cathode, including a plurality of electron generation sources respectively having substantially the same thermoelectron generation capacities and also arranged to allow the generated respective electron beams to linearly collide with the electron collision surface and to allow the collision positions to be adjacent at prescribed interval; and an X-ray control means for controlling the X-ray tube, thereby selectively generating one or not less than two adjacent electron beams among the plurality of electron beams based on the plurality of electron generation sources, and generating the plurality of kinds of X-ray beams different in the position and size of the X-ray focal point.
