PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for generating hydrogen are provided to save installation costs by simplify devices for generating hydrogen. CONSTITUTION: A method for generating hydrogen comprises a step of supplying the mixed raw material of aluminum powder and water into a reactor (S10); a step of generating hydrogen, steam, and alumina powder by heating the mixed raw material (S20); a step of discharging the mixed gas of hydrogen and steam outside a reactor, making it and a heat exchange medium exchange heat in a hydrogen extraction part to extract hydrogen by separating hydrogen and steam from each other (S40,S51); and a step of collecting hydrogen being extracted (S60).
