In the method of the present invention for finishing a spray coated surface, a helical groove is formed on an inside surface of a cylindrical member and surface-roughened, a spray coating is formed on the roughened inside surface, and the spray coating is cut along the helix of the groove by a cutting tool and finished. By this finishing method, a spray coated surface having non-uniform hardness can be finished with good efficiency.
