A method of fracturing a formation surrounding a wellbore uses portions of a tubular comprising an annulus isolation means, such as a packer 101,110...501,510, a selective flow path between the interior and the exterior of the tubular, such as a fracture sleeve 52,102...402, and a throughbore isolation means such as a flapper valve 54,104...504. A production tool 103...503 in the form of an inflow control device (ICD) comprises a sleeve valve selectively covering ports. The method includes running the tubular into the wellbore; isolating an annulus between the exterior of the tubular and the wellbore; selecting any zone to be fractured; remotely opening the flow path; remotely isolating the throughbore of the tubular by closing the throughbore isolation means; and fracturing at least part of the formation surrounding the well. Radio frequency identification (RFID) tags may be used to send control signals to the tools in an open system and modulated pressure sequences may be used when the system is closed. |
