A vane pump and a method utilizing the vane pump for conveying a fluid. The vane pump is provided with a cylindrical pump housing (5). The pump housing (5) is provided therein with: a drive shaft (1), a rotor (3) sleeved on the drive shaft, and a vane (4) arranged on the rotor (3). The vane (4) is sealedly in contact with the cavity of the pump housing (5). An end cap is arranged at an end of the pump housing (5). The vane pump is also provided with a vane pump intake opening (70) and a vane pump discharge opening (80). The vane pump intake opening (70) and/or the vane pump discharge opening (80) are arranged on the end cap of the vane pump. Another vane pump, comprising multiple cylindrical pump housings (25), also comprising a vane pump intake opening (270) and a vane pump discharge opening (280). The vane pump intake opening (270) and/or the vane pump discharge opening (280) respectively are arranged on the end cap. Partitions (22) has arranged thereon fluid transfer openings (24) running through the upper and lower end faces of the partitions. The method utilizing the vane pump for conveying the fluid performs pumping by taking in and/or discharging the fluid in the direction of the end of the pump housing.
