Provided is a variable-power optical system having, in order from the object side, a first lens group (G1) having a positive refractive power, a second lens group (G2) having a negative refractive power, a third lens group (G3) having a positive refractive power, and a fourth lens group (G4) having a positive refractive power, wherein: when the magnification is varied between a wide-angle-end state and a telescopic-end state, the interval between the first lens group (G1) and the second lens group (G2) changes, the interval between the second lens group (G2) and the third lens group (G3) changes, and the interval between the third lens group (G3) and the fourth lens group (G4) changes; the third lens group (G3) has, in order from the object side, a first section group (G31) having a positive refractive power and a second section group (G32); the second section group (G32) moves so as to include a component in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis; and a prescribed conditional expression is satisfied. As a result, the variable-power optical system is compact, has high power-variability and a wide-angle view, and exhibits favorable optical performance and an anti-vibration function. Further provided are an optical device and a method for producing a variable-power optical system. |
