HYBRID ORTHOGONAL FREQUENCY DIVISION MULTIPLE ACCESS SYSTEM AND METHOD

The system has a receiver with a common subassembly for processing received data to recover data mapped to subcarriers using orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA). A spread OFDMA subassembly is provided for recovering an input data. A non-spread OFDMA subassembly (140) is provided for recovering another input data. The subcarriers and time periods allocated to users are hopping in a pseudo-random way for the sub carriers allocated for non-spread orthogonal frequency division multiple access. An independent claim is also included for a method for transmitting data using hybrid orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA). -
