PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for conducting electrical energy affecting a composite structure and/or other components in an aircraft in an undesired manner, using composite layers.SOLUTION: A composite structure 100 comprises a matrix 110 and a reinforcement 112. The matrix 110 comprises a substantially nonconductive material 113. The reinforcement 112 comprises a conductive material 114. The reinforcement 112 is located within the matrix 110 to form a composite layer 106. A portion of the reinforcement 112 is exposed at a surface of the composite layer such that electrical conductivity of the composite layer is increased in a direction substantially perpendicular to the composite layer 106. |
