The method involves punching metallic skeleton portion (2) whose front and rear ends are provided with articulated tabs (24,26). The skeletal portion is placed in an injection mold and is coated with a thermoplastic resin, polyoxymethylene or metal. The blank from the injection mold is removed. The skeleton portions are punched out from the roller material. The articulated tab (24) at the conveyor chain element (1a) is connected with corresponding articulated tab (26) at another conveyor chain element (1b). An independent claim is included for conveyor chain.
