PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable reduction in the number of components.SOLUTION: A hydraulic shock absorber includes a cylinder 1 of which an opening end is blocked by a rod guide 4; a piston 3 that is inserted in the cylinder 1 in a slidable manner to define a rod-side chamber R1 and a piston-side chamber R2 in the cylinder 1; an outer casing 5 that is disposed outside the cylinder 1 and of which an opening end is blocked by the rod guide 4 to define a reservoir R between the casing and the cylinder 1; a passage L disposed in the rod guide 4 and communicating the rod-side chamber R1 and the reservoir R; and a damping valve V disposed in the midway of the passage L. The passage L includes a clearance S communicating with the reservoir R, at the downstream side of the damping valve V. |
