PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and process for measuring a speed of an aerial cable, more specifically a traction cable (2) of a chair lift or a cable car.SOLUTION: A traction cable (2) of an apparatus for measuring a speed of an aerial cable, more specifically a traction cable (2) of a chair lift or a cable car is provided with a mark (5). The apparatus includes first and second sensors (7, 8) formed so as to transmit first and second information signals (S1, S2) about the existence of the mark (5) respectively. The second sensor (8) is arranged at a position away from the first sensor (7) by a reference distance (dx). The apparatus includes first determination means (10) formed so as to determine a phase shift (dt) between the first and second information signals (S1, S2), and second determination means (11) for determining speed information (V) of the traction cable (2) from the determined phase shift (dt) and the reference distance (dx). |
