PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply and rapidly assemble a differential 1 by making an auxiliary tool 30 for use to hold a compressed state of a spring 9 available after compressing the spring 9 at a stage prior to mounting a pinion shaft 4 on a pinion gear 3 in a differential 1 in which the spring, for imparting a preload intended to press side gears 6, 7 against a plurality of pinion gears 3, is interposed between axial opposed faces of two side bosses 21a, 22a and the two side gears 6, 7 in a differential case 2.SOLUTION: In a state that a claw-shaped protrusion 35a of a movable piece 35 of an auxiliary tool 30 is hung to an inner end face in a gear 62 of one side gear 6 at a stage before mounting the pinion shaft 4 to the pinion gear 3, a recess 5b is formed at a pinion shaft holder 5 in order that the claw-shaped protrusion 35a is not made to interfere with the pinion shaft holder 5 put on the inner end face of the one side gear 6. |
