PURPOSE: An air conditioner and a control method thereof are provided to obtain the reliability of an operation by setting a target pressure for determining an operation speed of a compressor based on the temperature of water flowing into a cooler. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioner control method is as follows. A compressor operates(S220). The temperature of water flowing into an evaporator is measured. The water is heat exchanged with refrigerant compressed by the compressor so that the refrigerant is evaporated. Target pressure, which is the pressure of the refrigerant evaporated by the evaporator, is set based on the measured temperature of the water(S230). The compressor is operated when the temperature of the water discharged by the evaporator is larger than the set temperature.
