PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and an image forming method by using a multi-beam. SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus is equipped with a plurality of light sources, a separating means, a photo-electric converting means, and a controlling means. In this case, the plurality of light sources emit laser beams. The separating means separates respective emitted laser beams into first laser beams for measuring a light amount, and second laser beams for scanning a photo-sensitive element. The photo-electric converting means measures the light amount of the first laser beams, and outputs a voltage in response to the light amount. The controlling means controls the light amount of the laser beams from a current correcting value which is set for each laser beam from the voltage being output, and a common driving current which is set in advance for commonly driving the plurality of light sources.
