PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focus detection device capable of accurately detecting the amount of defocus between the most satisfactory image plane and an estimated focal plane.SOLUTION: A focus detection device comprises: a photoelectric conversion device configured to generate a pair of image signals corresponding to a pair of images formed on an estimated focal plane by a pair of luminous fluxes passing through an exit pupil; image displacement amount detection means for detecting a relative amount of image displacement of the pair of images on the basis of the correlation degree of the pair of image signals; image displacement amount correction means for calculating the amount of corrected image displacement on the basis of the relative amount of image displacement and a predetermined amount of offset; defocus amount calculation means for calculating the amount of defocus by multiplying the amount of corrected image displacement and a predetermined conversion coefficient; and offset amount acquisition means for acquiring a predetermined amount of offset, which is determined in accordance with the difference in shapes between a pair of images by a pair of luminous fluxes passing through the exit pupil, resulting from the aberration of a photographing optical system. |
