<p>PURPOSE: An evaluation method of wireless transmission channel quality and a residential gateway using the same are provided to utilize a network message for channel quality evaluation, so that a result of the evaluation does not depend only on the power level of channel noise and is automatically weighted according to the level of compatibility between the network message and the noise. CONSTITUTION: A first station transmits a first unicast message to a second station through a transmission channel (S4). If an acknowledgement (ACK) of the first unicast message is not received from the second station, the first station transmits an additional unicast message at a higher power level (S4). If an ACK of the first or the arbitrary additional unicast message is received from the second station, the first station evaluates the quality of the transmission channel based on the power level or the number of retransmissions required for triggering the ACK.
