The collector has a felt layer provided with carbon fibers (12). The felt layer possesses porosities that lie between 92-96 percent. The felt layer comprises multiple felt segments (8) of a segmented felt mat (3), where major surfaces of the felt layer run parallel along a thickness direction (d) of the felt mat. The felt segments possess the thickness, which lies between 5-20 mm, where the segments are arranged next to each other by folding of the mat. A carrier layer (6) i.e. graphite film, comprises quartz glasses, ceramic and basalt. The felt segments are connected using adhesive. The collector utilizes threads selected from one of plastic threads, glass fibers or carbon fibers. The adhesive is selected from geo polymer, water glass and sulfur. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a current collector.
