PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elastic surface wave element in which propagation attenuation of a vertical leakage surface acoustic wave is small, and an electronic component using the elastic surface wave element.SOLUTION: An elastic surface wave element includes: a piezoelectric piece 101 made of a piezoelectric material; an IDT electrode 11a for exciting the piezoelectric piece 101 with a vertical leakage surface acoustic wave; and a thin film 102 made of a dielectric material that covers an area where the vertical leakage surface acoustic wave propagates. A ratio of a phase speed of a bulk longitudinal wave of the dielectric material to a phase speed of a bulk longitudinal wave of the piezoelectric material is 0.95 or more. |
