Provided are a method and apparatus for transmitting and processing an Inter-IC Sound (I2S) format audio signal. The method of transmitting an audio signal in a normal serial audio format between a first logic unit and a second logic unit, the method includes: converting a first additional information signal with regard to the audio signal into a second additional information signal in the normal serial audio format (210); and transmitting the second additional information signal using a channel for transmitting the audio signal (220).
