A primary fuel ignited by compression ignition is combusted in a cylinder. A secondary fuel is combusted in cylinder. A combustion phase of cylinder is adjusted when the secondary fuel is combusted compared to when primary fuel is combusted. A number of fuel injections provided to cylinder by a fuel injector (66) are adjusted during a cycle of cylinder in response to combustion phase. A pressure of fuel supplied to an engine (10) is adjusted in response to combustion phase of engine. The number of fuel injections is increased in response to a retarded combustion phase. An independent claim is included for engine system.
