A method (M1) for the production of microcapsules (I) with a capsule wall and a core, involves (a) making an oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion with a disperse phase containing the core material and an oligocarbodi-imide, an aqueous continuous phase and a protective colloid, and (b) reacting one or more di- and/or poly-carboxylic acids and/or their water-soluble salts with the oligocarbodi-imide. Independent claims are also included for (1) a method (M2) for the production of (I) by carrying out stage (a) as in M1 and then adding di- and/or poly-carboxylic acid(s) or their salts to the resulting emulsion (2) microcapsules (I) obtained by these methods (3) agrochemical formulations containing (I) .
