PURPOSE: A control system for a pneumatic actuator and a control method thereof are provided to efficiently control multiple pneumatic actuators using a small compression pump by varying the pressure of compressed air generated from the compression pump. CONSTITUTION: A control system (500) for a pneumatic actuator comprises one or more pneumatic actuators (100), a compression pump (10), a pneumatic pressure supply unit (130), a sensor, and a pump control unit. The pneumatic actuators are operated by the pressure of air to generate mechanical power. The compression pump generates compressed air to be supplied to the pneumatic actuators and varies the capacity of the compressed air. The pneumatic pressure supply unit stores the compressed air and supplies the compressed air to the pneumatic actuators. The sensor senses the pressure of the compressed air. The pump control unit applies a signal to the compression pump based on the load of the pneumatic actuators and the sensed signal to vary the capacity of the compressed air.
