PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery which is composed to be able to easily discharge gases collected inside a laminate type electrode group, as well as provide a storage battery system which, by using this secondary battery, exhibits stable charge/discharge capacity over a long period of time and a maintenance method for easily discharging gases collected inside the laminate type electrode group.SOLUTION: Secondary batteries RB1 and RB2 each include in a battery can housing a laminate type electrode group 1 an electrode group pressing member 6 which, upon receiving a predetermined drive force, presses the electrode group to remove gases from inside the electrode group, so that when gases are assumed to have built up inside the electrode group, the electrode group pressing member 6 is operated on to remove the collected gases. When a predetermined maintenance program signal from these secondary batteries is recognized, a storage battery system performs a gas venting operation by using a predetermined device which applies the drive force to the electrode group pressing member. When a given period has elapsed after the storage battery system was installed, or when its characteristic degradation is confirmed, a maintenance method outputs a maintenance request signal. |
