Provided is a fuel cell electrolyte that can be formed without undergoing high-temperature processing and has outstanding airtightness, as well as a solid oxide fuel cell using such an electrolyte and a method for manufacturing the same. Gaps between columnar crystals (C) of a solid oxide capable of conducting oxygen ions are filled partially or entirely in the thickness direction with microparticles (P), and on top thereof is formed at least a layer (Lp) formed of similar microparticles or a solid oxide layer (Ls) that is capable of conducting oxygen ions and functions as an electrolyte.
