This fluid pressure control device is provided with: a first control valve that switches in a manner so that a working fluid is supplied to the pressure chamber of a cylinder upon which the load pressure of a load acts, thus controlling the extension action of the cylinder; a second control valve that switches in a manner so that the working fluid of the pressure chamber is discharged, thus controlling the contraction action of the cylinder; an operated check valve that is interposed between the pressure chamber and the second control valve, and that blocks the discharge of the working fluid from the pressure chamber when switched to a closed state; and a pilot valve that causes the second control valve to perform a pilot operation by means of a pilot pressure, and causes the operated check valve to switch to an open state by means of the pilot pressure.
