A method for distributed carrier aggregation on unlicensed bands is described. The method includes tuning an antenna of a user equipment to a first carrier (710). The method includes transmitting, from an access point on a first carrier, information regarding a second carrier (720). The method also includes receiving, on the first carrier via the antenna, the information regarding the second carrier (730). The first carrier and the second carrier are in an unlicensed band. The method includes retuning the antenna to the second carrier (740) and communicating data on the second carrier via the antenna (750). A maximum transmission power for the second carrier is based at least in part on a bandwidth of the second carrier. The information may comprise cross-scheduling information, or configuration data, for the second carrier. The configuration data may comprise an indication of the bandwidth of the second carrier or switching data indicating when to tune the antenna to the first carrier and when to tune the antenna to the second carrier. The switching data may comprise a switching periodicity or a switching bitmap. The first carrier may a core carrier and the second carrier may be a secondary cell carrier. The method may also comprise switching the core carrier from the first carrier to a third carrier. The maximum transmission power may be 10dBm.
