The invention relates to a set gypsum composition that demonstrates enhanced resistance to permanent deformation and/or enhanced dimensional stability and provides an accelerator for an aqueous calcined gypsum composition comprising a borate and an accelerator material. Optionally, the accelerator material is calcium sulfate dihydrate. Optionally, the borate and the accelerator material are provided in a milled mixture which optionally has a median particle size of less than about 5 µm and/or a surface area of at least about 7,000 cm 2 /gram.
