PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chain saw excellent in operability provided with an electric brake device regardless of the operation of a hand guard.SOLUTION: A chain saw 1 includes: a motor 1 driven by electric power; a housing 2 accommodating the motor 1; a guide bar 10 attached to the housing 2; a chain blade wound around the guide bar 10; a sprocket 17 engaged with the chain blade to drive the chain blade in which the chain saw transmits a driving force of the motor 3 to the sprocket 17 via clutch mechanisms 19, 18, the chain saw comprises a shut-off switch 23 for detecting the actuation of the clutch mechanism and is configured so that power supply to the motor 1 is stopped when the actuation of the clutch mechanism is detected by the shut-off switch 23 so as to be electrically braked. An electrical brake is provided also serving as a mechanical brake that is configured to work when a hand guard 12 is rotated. |
