PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To express gradation through multi-exposure by reliably aligning light beams without unnecessarily increasing the size of a circuit scale.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus has a plurality of light emitting parts for generating a plurality of light beams toward a photoreceptor and carries out multi-exposure at the same position on the photoreceptor by the plurality of light beams to form an image. When controlling the image forming apparatus, binary data and multi-valued data are created from image data according to the value of the image data. By using the binary data, the first light emitting part, which is one of the plurality of light emitting parts, is driven to emit light. By using the multi-valued data equal to or greater than ternary value, the second light emitting part, which is the other of the light emitting parts, is driven to emit light. Thus, control is exerted so that by using the binary data and the multi-valued data, multi-exposure is carried out at the same position on the photoreceptor. |
