PURPOSE: A coloring composition is provided to produce a chromatic layer with the compatibility of high heat resistance and excellent voltage holding rate. CONSTITUTION: A coloring composition (A) comprises a coloring agent indicated as the following formula 1 (1)., a binder resin (B) and a cross-linking agent (C). In the following formula 1, X^+ is a cationic chromophore and Z^- is a conjugate base of an organic acid having a polymerizable unsaturated group and a halo group. The Z^- is an anion indicated as the following chemical formula (1a-1). In the following chemical formula (1a-1), Y^1 is a radical having a polymerizable unsaturated group and Y^2 is a halo group or a halide hydrocarbon group having a connecting group of atoms except carbon, hydrogen or halogen.
