PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device which makes discoloration and corrosion due to a sulfur containing gas less likely to occur.SOLUTION: A light emitting device according to this invention includes: a substrate formed by fixing at least a pair of leads, having a silver containing layer on surfaces, with a resin molding; a light emitting element placed on the leads; a protection film covering an upper surface of the substrate and formed by an inorganic material; and a sealing resin provided on a surface of the substrate through the protection film. The sealing resin has a first resin covering the light emitting element and a second resin covering a boundary between the resin molding and the leads and having hardness higher than that of the first resin.
