An inflation work station (700, 800) for inflating a tire-wheel assembly (TW) including a tire (T) mounted to a wheel (W) is disclosed. The inflation work station (700, 800) includes at least one inflation probe (706, 806', 806") including a female portion (706a, 806a) and a male portion (706b, 806b). The male portion (706b, 806b) is arrangeable with respect to the female portion (706a, 806a) in one of a non-mated orientation such that the at least one inflation probe (706, 806', 806") is arranged in an offline orientation and a mated orientation such that the at least one inflation probe (706, 806', 806") is arranged in an online orientation. The inflation work station (700, 800) further includes a working device (704, 804) including a controller (724, 824), at least one movement actuator (728a, 728b, 828a, 828b) connected to the controller (724, 824) and the at least one inflation probe (706, 806', 806"). The at least one movement actuator (728a, 728b, 828a, 828b) imparts movement to the male portion (706b, 806b) to result in the online / offline orientation of the at least one inflation probe (706, 806', 806"). The inflation work station (700, 800) includes at least one valve (730, 830', 830") connected to the controller (724, 824) and the at least one inflation probe (706, 806', 806"). The inflation workstation (700, 800) includes at least one pressurized fluid source (732, 832', 832") connected to the at least one inflation probe (706, 806', 806") by way of the at least one valve (724, 824) to permit or deny communication of a pressurized fluid (F) of the at least one pressurized fluid source (732, 832', 832") to a cavity (C) formed by the tire-wheel assembly (TW) for inflating the tire-wheel assembly (TW). A method is also disclosed. |
