The device comprises a loading unit, a transport unit (4), a presorting unit (2), a cleaning unit, an evacuation unit, and a sensor (5) for determining the reprocessing of the crown caps (1). A distribution line for crown caps has outputs for outputting crown caps of same age into a treatment channel or a sorting unit (7) for selection of reusable crown caps. A control system (6) is provided for controlling and tracking the crown caps through the reprocessing plant. The sorting unit is controllable by the data of the sensor. An independent claim is included for a method for repeated reprocessing of used container closures, particularly crown caps in a reprocessing plant.
