<p>1373124 Liquefying gases SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPLJ NV 13 Dec 1971 57766/71 Heading F4P A liquefaction plant for natural gas supplied at high pressure, e.g. direct from the well, comprises a pair of coolers 12, 16 and separators 14, 18 to remove the heavy fractions which are fed via reducing valves 22, 24 to a distillation column 20, the gas stream 27 issuing therefrom being fed in parallel with the main gas stream 26 through a series of heat exchangers 28 in which both streams are liquefied, the main stream being fed through a pressure reducing device 30 prior to mixing with the stream 27. The gas enters the plant at approx. 50 atmos., cooler 12 reducing the temperature to between - 10‹ C. and - 35‹C. The valves 22, 24 reduce the pressure to about 35 atmos. to ensure sufficient difference between liquid and vapour densities in the distillation column 20, and the stream 27 issues at - 70‹ C. and 35 atmos. whilst main stream 26 issues from separator 18 at - 70‹ C. and 45-50 atmos. The stream 27 will be about 15 to 20% of the gas intake at 10. The liquefied gas may pass through a further heat exchanger 34 before being stored.</p> |
